Some indiscriminate breeders have inflamed congenital problems by careless over-breeding, and have created unstable temperaments through simple neglect. Unfortunately, these are the dogs you're likely to find at the local shelter or dog pound, often the result of accidental breeding between two un-sterilized dogs. These breeds generally and originally assisted hunters in the field with either excellent scenting abilities or incomparable speed. A diverse group skilled in a number of disciplines, most working breeds are robust, intelligent and headstrong, often unsuitable for apprentice owners. Hound dog breeds.
