German Shepherd dogs € also known as Alsatians € are one of the most popular breeds in the world. The breed boasts more dog clubs than others and yet internationally Alsatians have the worst reputation for biting people.
Observers believe the biting is because German Shepherd can be over protective. They have a reputation for aggression if not socialised correctly. That's why proper training is essential. Some experts believe Alsatians need "firm" training but others says the reward system works better.
German Shepherds have come a long way since their origins as sheep dogs in Germany in 1899. In fact it's hard to imagine them now as a sheep dog.
