Dog training, I've finally failed - Family - Pets

I have two Labrador pups, now 6 months old and have been trying all the old methods to train them but seem to be getting nowhere. If they do something wrong we tap them on the nose with a rolled up newspaper, they try to eat it. They still use the kitchen as a toilet so we tried rubbing their noses in it (I knew this would fail though as one of the disgusting habits one of the dogs has is eating and drinking what he leaves, would love to solve that one) this has had no effect.

Now to the failure. I am an avid internet user. I believe that everything you need, information at least, is on there for free in some form. I have found plenty of sites that charge for free ebooks etc such as this one /pp/dog-training but nothing for free. In all fairness the site is cheap enough and probably worth it to stop Jack (the eldest dog) to stop the one habit.

I thought by now they would have outgrown it anyway, my parents German shepherds pup stopped doing this at 4 months, though he has sharp teeth at attacks everyone (playfully), but does have very sharp teeth. My mother now wears a long sleeved cardigan all the time because of the scars and scabs she has on her arms. Again this is new because up till recently my parents had five German shepherds, all gone now unfortunately, but we can all remember that they never bit, even as pups, and were toilet trained really quickly.

Anyway, back to my problems, the pups have plenty of other problems I can't solve. They've chewed our larder door to the point where there's a two inch corner missing, they've licked the artex off the wall, hard to believe but they have gone right down to the plaster and worst in my opinion is when we take them for walks. They pull at the lead to the point where Lilah (the youngest), has had to sit down coughing for a good few minutes. I can't get them to heel and whichever one is behind the other is pulling even harder to get in front.

Like I said at the beginning, this is the first time I have failed to find free information on the net so if anyone knows of any sites or any good advice please let me know.
