Want To Know The Best Dogs For Kids? - Family - Pets

We are all dog people, even if we don't know it. When you look at how cute they are and think about the fact that they give you unconditional love then it is hard not to be. But when you want to get a dog for the family then it is a really good idea to know about the best dogs for kids You will need to take various considerations into account when making your decision.

One of the first things you should take into account is the age of the dog. If you think about a puppy remember that it is a very energetic dog and you wouldn't want something that is going to be too demanding, this is especially true if you are slightly older parents. So a three month old pup would not be a good idea. But a dog such as a Collie which is young, sprightly and full of the joy of light might be better suited for a younger family. These dogs are also very gentle so you will find that they are great with children.

You need to find a breed that is suitable to your family and there are a couple of favourites out there. The Labrador or Golden Retriever breeds are very popular. One of the reasons for this could be due to the Lassie films, but it is also simply because they are such well natured dogs. They are not too big and they are just so loveable and gentle that they make one's heart melt when you meet them. Best of all they are patient and loyal and these are the best qualities in a dog.

But this is not the only choice open to one. You might also want to try the German Shepherd breed that is also known as a patient protector. For those that live is a smaller environment or if the children are likely to be scared of a bigger dog then a Maltese poodle is a great idea. They are the ultimate kind of lap dog and just love all the attention. They enjoy it without being demanding which is a tough balance to get. For those that have no issue with size the Great Dane is a natural choice. This is a giant amongst dogs but a gentle giant and one that makes an incredible companion. Then of course there is always a mongrel to melt your heart.

These little guys are just so grateful for a home that they are not going to be fussy. Often these little chaps are at the local pound or animal shelter and rather than buy a dog, it is recommended that you seriously think about one of these as they would essentially be saving a life. Many shelters have no choice but to put dogs down if they are not claimed. These dogs might not always be the best looking but they often turn out to be one's true best friend.

No matter what kind of breed you eventually decide on, you have to make sure that the dog goes through some form of training. This will ensure that they understand how to be obedient and it will also make it safer for your children. Training should be done with a positive attitude in mind and not one that centres around punishment.

So when you look for the best dogs for kids it is a good idea to know that almost any dog can be a good family pet. You need to let the animal know that it is loved and it will show you all the unconditional love you have ever wanted and soon you will wonder why you didn't get one earlier.
